The Alzheimer’s Society

Moments of Colour Workshop - Jan 2026

A special community art event organised by local artist James Lark of OhMyArt recently brought people together to experience the powerful impact of creativity, connection and shared time. The charity event, held in support of The Alzheimer’s Society, was kindly sponsored by B-NRG Limited.

The session invited people living with dementia to take part in a relaxed, music-led art activity using oil pastels inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky. Set to classical music, participants explored colour, shape and movement in a calm, supportive environment that focused on enjoyment rather than outcomes.

James Lark said the event was a powerful reminder of the importance of giving time to activities that support mental health, wellbeing and social connection, particularly for those who may feel isolated or vulnerable.

“Art has a unique way of breaking down barriers,” James explained. “It creates space for conversation, expression and connection. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time talking with participants, hearing about their fascinating lives, and creating artwork together. It was incredibly moving to see how creativity and music helped people feel relaxed, engaged and valued.”

One of OhMyArt’s core aims is to increase access to art and creativity for those who may be disadvantaged or vulnerable, while also encouraging people of all backgrounds and abilities to explore how creativity can enhance their mental health and wellbeing.

James added, “You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy art. When we remove pressure and focus on the experience, creativity becomes something everyone can access and benefit from.”

The event also highlighted the vital role local businesses can play in supporting their communities, with B-NRG Limited’s sponsorship helping to make the day possible and impactful.
